Recertification Program
This page outlines the requirements, eligible activities, documentation, and timelines for maintaining your CLRP™ certification. CLRP™ holders are responsible for tracking their own credits and maintaining documentation throughout their three-year certification cycle.
Start Here: What You Need to Know
- CLRP™ certification is valid for three (3) years
- 45 recertification credits are required per cycle
- Credits must be earned and documented within your active certification period
- National PELRA does not track credits on behalf of CLRP holders
- Incomplete documentation may result in delayed or denied recertification

- Certification term: 3 years from award date
- Credits required: 45
- Submission window: At or before certification expirations
- Grace period: 90 days post-expiration (late fee applies)
- If certification lapses: Full re-certification required
Step-by-Step Recertification Process
Step 1: Earn Eligible Credits
Review approved activities and the Recertification Matrix and plan your professional development across your certification cycle.
Step 2: Track & Document Activities
Maintain records (certificates, agendas, proof of attendance, etc.) for all credits claimed.
Step 3: Complete Required Forms
Step 4: Submit Materials & Payment
Submit all documentation and fees before your expiration date.

Timeline, Fees & Late Policy
- Standard recertification fee: Members: $95 | Non-Members: $190
- Late fee (within 90-day grace period): $55
- After grace period: Certification expires; re-certification required

Upon receiving your CLRP™ Certification, your CLRP™ 3-year Recertification period will begin and you can start earning recertification credits. Your initial date of earning your CLRP™ will be considered your CLRP® Anniversary date and will be used as your Recertification Due Date.
Note: If you complete your Recertification earlier than your due date, your end date will not change, but credits cannot be carried over to the next recertification period.
You must complete the Recertification Form and include all relevant documentation related to continuing education activities (certificates, agendas, proof of attendance, etc.)
Yes – experiential learning and HR innovations/on-the-job experience are ways to earn recertification credits. Please review the Recertification Matrix to determine the maximum credits that may be earned for those areas per year.
Individuals who fail to recertify with 45 credits within the 3-year certification period and any subsequent allowable grace periods will have their CLRP™ status revoked and will be required to reapply for CLRP™ Certification.
